Babyzen YoYo Plus Stroller Review

Far Flung Adventures Await

Colorful Babyzen Yoyo+ strollers for 2017 are the best in luxurious, compact travel for your baby.

BabyZen Yoyo Plus is a popular travel stroller that folds up small enough for airplane overhead bins and weighs a scant 13 pounds. But don't let the small size fool you - this stroller is comfy for your child with a reclining seat, adjustable leg rest and a suspension system called "soft drive" that smooths out bumpy terrain without having to lock your front wheels straight.

This sweet little stroller has gotten rave reviews all over the world. Traveling families love the Yoyo Plus since it folds easily and super small. Sling it over your shoulder and bring it on board, then unfold it one-handed! Urban families like that that small fold and compact size to squeeze into tight spaces and light enough to climb the stairs.

In this review you'll see lots of photos and detailed descriptions of the Babyzen Yoyo Plus and discover why it's gotten an overall 4-star rating from parents reporting through blogs, reports and online retail stores. It comes standard with the stroller base, the fabric color of your choice and rain cover. Here are the standard features:

Can newborns ride?

YES! There are several options for your brand new baby. First is the pram option, like you see in the photo. It's a carry cot that lies totally flat and has a 5-point safety harness, foot cover, headrest and a 2-position sun canopy. Attach it straight onto the Yoyo+ frame for a lightweight pram. This is called the Newborn pack, and it's what you buy in addition to the stroller. You'd use the main seat once your child can sit up at around 6 months.

Another option is the car seat travel system. The BabyZen Yoyo Plus accommodates Cybex car seats when you get the adapters. The car seats specifically are the Cybex Aton, Aton 2, Aton Q or Cloud Q .

Tell me more about the seat

The padded comfy seat comes in a variety of colors. Amazon carries six colors, but you can go with a smaller independent retailer like Magic Beans or Pish Posh Baby and they sell 16 different colors. The seat pad is removable and washable for those inevitable messes and spills.

For napping, the seat has a multiple position strap recline, the lowest at a 145°  angle and your child can ride up to a 40-pound weight limit. An adjustable 5-point padded safety harness keeps your child tucked in the seat and the while the buckle is easy enough for an adult to do an undo, your child's not going to be able to wiggle free.

While there's no adjustable leg rest, there is a roomy foot well.

Steering and performance

The Babyzen Yoyo Plus + is known for it's super smooth and easy steering. The 5-inch wheels are made of high quality hard rubber, and while the wheels do not lock straight, they have an all-wheel suspension system called Soft Drive, which really does glide over urban surfaces smoothly.

The brakes are one-step linked and flip-flip friendly because it is so simple.

While the handle is not height adjustable, it's tall enough so that most adults can push with comfort. In a recent review, a 5'11" dad wrote that he and his 5'4" wife both felt good using the handle.

The famous fold

And now you have it, the most practical and coveted features of this awesome little travel stroller is a fold so small you can take it anywhere with you. Improved on this version is padding on the carry strap to make it more comfortable on your shoulder.

It fits within international standards as carry-on luggage, so you don't have to gate-check your stroller and fear that it's going to be dropped or damaged in transit.

Fit lots more into your trunk space or your closet space since the folded Babyzen Yoyo takes up very little room.

While, clearly, you can unfold the stroller one-handed, the fold is two-step process in that  you have to fold down the handle, which means pressing buttons on either side to get the handle to go down.

Once you've done that step, the rest can be done one-handed, but as you can see from this video demo, sometimes the auto frame lock does not engage. You can see the sales rep has to use both hands to hold the stroller and you can't hold your baby and do that, unless you have the strap over your shoulder already. So I'm not convinced that the fold part can be done one-handed.

What's the canopy like?

The Babyzen Yoyo Plus has very decent coverage for a travel stroller. The sun canopy has three panels plus a pop-out visor and a clear vinyl peek-a-boo window so you can check in on your passenger. Thumbs up on this one!

What about storage?

This latest version of the Yoyo has an improved storage basket that is 60% larger than before and customers now call the storage "decent"  - you used to not be able to fit a small diaper bag in there, but you can now. Elastic sides help you get into the basket from any angle, and you can also reach into the basket through the front. There's also a new storage zippered pocket at the rear of the canopy.

Where can I buy a BabyZen YoYo Plus?

There are several places online right now that offer the same pricing and quick, free shipping. First place I like to check is on Amazon, where lots of customers have an account and can buy additional items in one order.

If you like supporting independent baby gear retailers - you know, the smaller guy - then I would totally go with Magic Beans or Pish Posh Baby. Either of these retailers has helpful videos and competitive service.

What others are saying

Babyzen Yoyo Plus 2017 reviews are better than the original Yoyo with the sturdier frame, larger storage basket and plusher seat padding. Overall ratings give this fantastic travel stroller 4 out of 5 stars for the compact convenience, airline-ready fold and seat recline.

Time and again, parents use this as their travel stroller. One very recent review said she took hers to Vegas, Atlanta, the EU and the Middle East and didn't encounter any problems.

Practical and useful were words to describe this stroller on numerous reviews.

There are very few complaints with this latest edition Babyzen Yoyo. The only recurring grumble is over the price, with some feeling it's too high for a travel stroller.

Where can I find the best price?

Right now all online retailers are selling the Babyzen Yoyo Plus for the same $495 price. So go for the company that you like the best. I prefer Pish Posh Baby and Magic Beans as an alternative to Amazon, but Amazon is always a good choice.

On any of these sites you can get the Newborn Pack, car seat adapters and any other accessories you may want.
