Britax B-Scene Stroller Review

3-Wheeled Convertible Stroller

The Britax B-Scene has the same seat as the phenomenal B-Ready, but on a different frame for parents who want a highly maneuverable 3-wheeler.

Like the Britax B-Ready, the B-Scene is also a reversing seat convertible stroller. Remove the seat and install your infant car seat for a lightweight travel system. When your baby is older, place the seat back in either facing you or facing the world.

Parents who love the idea of the B-Ready but who would rather have a three-wheeled option have the perfect solution with the Britax B-Scene. It is basically the same seat on a different frame. This stroller has excellent maneuverability, though it is not a genuine all-terrain like a BOB stroller.

One mommy blogger calls it a "compact, streamlined contemporary urban hybrid" and that's a pretty darn accurate description. The B-Scene is gorgeous to look at, has all the luxury convertible stroller features we want, yet has the three-wheeled all-terrain stroller look for tight maneuverability and less "footprint."

As you read through this article, you will find out what this modern and stylish stroller has to offer and why parents rave about it in their 4-star reviews. Let's first begin with all the fabulous features of the Britax B-Scene Stroller. Read on...

All about the seat

Britax B-Scene Reverse Seat
Britax B-Scene Travel System

Let's start with the seat on this Britax pram. Like many luxury strollers, the B-Scene has a molded seat, meaning that when it reclines, the seat back does not angle independently of the seat - the entire seat moves. Your baby should be at least 6 months old to ride with this seat.

However, you can use a car seat until baby is old enough, and the B-Scene accommodates the Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seat. If you don't have the Chaperone, you could buy the universal car seat adapter that fits a Chicco Key Fit & Key Fit 30, Graco Snugride 32 & Snugride 35, and Peg Perego Primo Viaggio.

While a snack tray doesn't come with this Britax stroller, it does come with a padded bumper bar that swings away for easy in and out, plus you can buy a Britax cup holder set and it fits right in. (Reviews say these are too small and shallow, though, so beware!)

The seat reclines in three positions and I absolutely love the one-handed lever recline feature. It's nice and smooth so you leave your child undisturbed while napping. I noticed a numbered indicator next to the seat with an arrow pointing to which recline position the seat is in. That takes out the guesswork, because sometimes it's hard to tell which position the seat is in.

The seat comes with an adjustable head rest that is made of luxurious suede-like soft material that is attached to the padded five-point safety harness. In addition, the buckle on the harness is heavy duty so that your little escape artist will find it impossible to get out. The straps have reflective accents for better visibility in low-lit areas, which is a thoughtful detail.

Unique adjusting straps

Now here's a unique feature I haven't seen on any other stroller that I really like. Re-threading the harness as your child grows taller is such a hassle. Wouldn't you agree? Well, the Britax B-Scene uses a system where you unzip the back of the seat and slide an adjuster up and down to the height you need and it adjusts both the straps and the head rest at the same time.

Even better you can further adjust the straps in front to get the fit just right. I've never seen an easier adjustable harness!

Lastly you have an adjustable footrest adds leg support and comfort for your child. In a positive review, a mom said that her daughter slept comfortably in the seat with the leg rest up and seat back, and woke up without being cranky.

You also have the option of using the very attractive bassinet with your B-Scene. The bassinet comes in the matching red or black colors to your stroller and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It says it's for the B-Ready, but according to the Britax official site, the B-Scene can use this bassinet as well.

Weather protection

A large sun canopy is one of the most important criteria of a good stroller on every mom's list. I like hood on the B-Scene for a number of reasons. Besides being nice and big, the sun canopy comes with an extra-large ventilated peek-a-boo window that keeps your baby cool and comfortable during a summer stroll. While the canopy doesn't come all the way down to the bumper bar, it does provide plenty of coverage.

I also love the magnetic corners that secure the window flap down - no more Velcro rip to wake your baby when you want to check in. The sun canopy has a nifty pop-out sun visor that provides additional protection.

Stability and performance

Britax B-Scene
Measurements:

Folded w Seat: 34"L x 25¼"W x 19"H
Frame Fold: 33½"L x 25¼"W x 12½"
Width: 26½"
Length: 39"
Handle Height: 31"-42"
Seat Width: 12¾"
Seat Depth: 9"
Seat Back: 21½"
Seat to Canopy: 24"
Wheels: 9½" front & 11" rear
Weight Capacity: 55 lbs.
Stroller weight: 28 lbs.

The stroller can take a 55 pound weight limit and several parents mention in their reviews that the main seat in the B-Scene sits up higher than other brands, and some mothers mention in their remarks that they like that. A mom mentioned in a review that she is happy that the seat is deep enough, her baby has difficulties throwing toys off the stroller.

The Britax B-Scene stroller is highly durable and stable. It is very difficult to tip over, even with weight and pressure applied on its handle. Since the handles align directly above its rear wheels, this prevent it from tipping over. Moms can easily hand shopping bags or purse on the handles when they have filled the storage basket underneath the seat.

The stroller can be maneuvered using one hand, even with baby in the seat. It turns on a dime, and can be easily steered in and out of stores. This helps moms to easily use the stroller for a quick run to the grocery store or to run errands. It also allows easy pushing and steering during long distance walks.

Solid thick rubber wheels won't puncture and full suspension provides smooth maneuvering to keep your baby comfortable during rides, especially with uneven surfaces. The rear wheels are designed wide apart, adding stability to the stroller and the front wheel can lock into place to add further stability going over rough terrain.

Both rear wheels of the Britax B-Scene are equipped with brakes that are linked together and the brakes lock with just one step. I like this feature because it is the same motion to lock and unlock. It's the perfect solution for us moms who like to wear flip flops. The color indicator is also unique: red when the brakes are engaged and green when disengaged.

What is the fold like?

Britax B-Scene Folded

This stroller requires two hands to fold, but the good news is that the B-Scene can fold with the seat attached! Many convertible strollers with the molded seats have to be removed first before folding.

All you have to do to fold the Britax B-Scene is set the brake, then pull up on the two levers on either side of the handle bar and simply push the handle as it glides into a standing fold. An automatic frame lock clicks firmly into place, ensuring your stroller stays together during transport. A recent 5-star review says the folded stroller fits fine in a VOW Jetta trunk.

Storage & amenities for parents

The Britax B-Scene stroller comes with a large storage basket that is located underneath the seat. It is very spacious and easily accessible, even with the seat reversed or the bassinet attached. A Connecticut mom raves about it in her review, how NOTHING blocks it and she likes having access to it anytime, even in full recline.

Another reviewer could fit both a large diaper bag and a large purse inside, but care needs to be taken that the smaller items don't fall out the back. That can be solved with the extra storage pockets located at the front of the basket.

More storage pockets are located on the seat back on eiter side of the zipper for the harness adjustment. They're just the right size to hold a water bottle, baby bottle, cell phone or keys, and this is nice to have since there is no parent cup holder.

One feature that I love about the B-Scene is the adjustable handle bar. The lowest setting is at 31 inches and it goes all the way up to 42 inches! Whether your older child is pushing this stroller or your tall husband, both will be about to do so in comfort with that handle set just right.

The Britax B-Scene also includes extra accessories such as a rain cover and the Chaperone Click & Go infant car seat adapters. The rain cover is convenient for unpredictable weather, while the infant car seat adapter turns your stroller frame into a lightweight, stylish travel system.

Video review

Here's a short and sweet video demo and review of the Britax B-Scene stroller.

How much should I pay for the Britax B-Scene?

This stroller has now been retired and is no longer in production. But you can still purchase it! The MSRP of this amazing stroller is $399. I've seen it going for $50 less on Amazon and the black color is even less. I like Amazon for their prompt service and free shipping. If Amazon is ever out of stock, then Baby Earth has the B-Scene for $40 cheaper than retail and also offers free shipping.

Britax B-Scene reviews: what others have to say

This fantastic little stroller has been getting some solid positive feedback. Moms and Dads just like you have been giving the Britax B-Scene 4-star reviews across different web retailers online as well as bloggers who have reviewed the B-Scene.

The first comments I noticed was the easy set up. "Click, click, done," said one blog. Another mom said it took her longer to take her new B-Scene out of the box than it did to put it together.

Many reviews mention the large, accessible storage basket. I read a blog review and the writer said she took her Britax B-Scene into a very crowded grocery store and she was able to maneuver around easily and place the groceries she needed into the large basket beneath the seat.

The seat, overall, gets lots of praise, mostly for the growing room and how comfortable babies and young kids are in it. Parents like the adjusting foot rest so little legs don't dangle while other moms mention the awesome shoulder harness adjustment knob in back.

A couple of customers mention the easy braking system.

Disadvantages

A couple of reviews mentioned that the foam-covered bumper bar should be covered with a different material because their little ones want to chew on it. Soft n squishy - that's going to invite your teething young baby to chew away!

Lastly, the wide wheel base (at just over 2 feet!) can a bit cumbersome when pushing it around while shopping in stores and a few parents mention this. When you take the B-Scene shopping, you may bump up against racks and displays. The tradeoff to this is a stable and sturdy stroller.

Some parents mention they'd rather have a one-handed fold and a cup holder.
