High End All Terrain Stroller Guide for 2017

BOB Revolution

$368-$500 depending on color, seller and BOB Revolution model

BOB is a brand that has become extremely popular with parents all over, whether they live in rugged rural areas or in the urban jungle. All of their models are made with superb quality and enjoy solidly high ratings both from both parents and professional consumer reporting agencies who recommend this product for its long life.

A BOB Revolution stroller now comes in 4 models: the SE, the CE, and now the new Flex (shown in photo) and Pro.

Each of these models is essentially the same but with slight differences, all of which I go over in my review.

Weighing only 23 pounds, the Bob Revolution stroller is lightweight, folds up easily and storage is a snap. Built with a superb suspension system, your Revolution goes over the toughest terrain with ease and agility. Many have compared BOB strollers to mountain bikes for the precision suspension, tires and rugged frame.

The ultra-padded multi-position reclining seat goes back up to 70 degrees for a comfortable position and the adjustable handle is comfortable for tall parents.

Customer reviews give it excellent 4½-star ratings. Read my surprising BOB Revolution review to find out why.

Thule Urban Glide

$385-$389 depending on color

A lighter-weight all terrain stroller at only 23 pounds, the Thule Urban Glide is an "all-round sports stroller." This awesome three-wheeler seamlessly takes you from your jogging route to the beach to park trails. I'm quite impressed with the Thule Urban Glide!

The phenomenal features on this outdoor warrior include everything to keep you and your child safe and comfortable. 16" rear tires with rear suspension smooth the bumpy ride for your little one.

Shield your child from any angle of the sun with a "follow the sun" canopy with flip-out mesh visor. From birth to 77 pounds, the seat can recline in multiple positions and the tough aluminum frame is travel system compatible.

Mom and Dad, you get a comfortable, height adjustable ergonomic handle bar and a zippered, covered storage basket beneath the seat so your things are hidden from view, or won't bounce out during your jog. There's also a big storage pocket behind the seat. The Urban Glide sports a simple, stand-alone fold and quick-release wheels so you can pack it in your trunk for outings.

Thule Urban Glide is a Consumer Reports Recommended Buy, with an overall score of 84%, excellent marks for Ease of Use and Maneuverability and a very good mark for Safety. Testers especially liked the sturdy feel and easy maneuverability, but the fold was a bit awkward and bulky.

Reviews are giving the Thule Urban raving 4½ stars for its wheels and performance, abundant storage and the sun canopy. They've even come out with a double!

Bumbleride Indie

$498-$530 depending on color & year

Want a high end all terrain stroller or jogger without all the bulkiness? The Bumbleride Indie is specially designed for a compact footprint and simple operation. Weighing only 22 pounds, the Indie holds your child up to 45 pounds.

Newborn babies can ride in the seat because of the flat recline and the footrest comes up to form an enclosure. Or if you'd rather have a travel system, a universal car seat adapter is included that accommodates such brands as Graco Classic Connect, Peg Perego, Chicco, Combi, Baby Trend and Britax.

A padded 5-point safety harness keeps your child snug and secure, and the SPF 45 canopy is enormous, offering plenty of protective shade from the sun's rays. An adjustable foot rest, multi-position reclining seat and padded bumper bar completes your child's comfort.

Parents, you get some awesome amenities, and many reviews out there give the Indie 4½ stars for the durable smooth ride, great maneuverability and easy storage. Consumer Reports weighs in, too. Read what they have to say, take a look at detailed photos, video reviews, measurements - it's all in my review at the link above.

Phil & Teds Sport

$500

Formerly called the Navigator, The updated Phil&Teds Sport is compact with a slim design, In single mode, the Sport holds your child up to age five or 44 pounds.

This high end all terrain stroller weighs 28 pounds in singles mode and the 23-inch overall width provides easier maneuvering while shopping.

A doubles kit turns the single into a double with eight seating configurations used with the optional carry cot or your car seat. Baby faces you or the world!

The seat is nice and roomy with a 12-inch width and 24-inch seatback, allowing lots of growing room. Soft matted premium fabric on the seat maintains its rich color and the recline goes all the way back to flat. A new shoulder strap adjustment system eliminates dangling ends and a fabric-covered padded bumper bar comes on and off easily.

A pivoting sun canopy has a flip-out visor to shield any angle of the sun and it has a peek-a-boo window. 12-inch air-filled tires are easily removed for better storage and Phil and Teds have improved the steering for excellent handling. Quickly fold the Sport one-handed and an auto frame lock holds your stroller together once folded for easy storage. An ergonomic, height adjustable handle provides additional comfort.

If a more compact all terrain stroller is on your wish list that has all the fab features this one has, you might want to check out Phil and Teds Dot.

The Sport is the first inline to offer an auto-stop feature. It is a braking system linked to the handle and if you let the handle go, for any manner of reasons as we busy parents might be prone to do, your stroller automatically stops. What an amazing concept!

You can see it in the photo and in the video below - the red thin metal lever that aligns with the handle. I also like that it has a way to hold the lever to the handle so you don't have to continue to squeeze it to keep the brakes disengaged.
